Born 03 January 1942.

 

Educated at La Martiniere College and

St. Xaviers College (Calcutta, India).

 

Military career: Participated in the India-Pakistan war of 1971. Served as aide-de-camp (ADC) to the President of India.

 

Social work: Helped in greening of Mussoorie hills (north India) as commanding officer of the ecological battalion of territorial army at Dehra Dun.

Awarded the Indira Gandhi Pariavaran "environment" Award.

 

Sports: Associated with rowing and member of the Indian Olympic Association.

 

Married Rani Rajlaxmi Singh (daughter of Raja Rabindra Narayan Deo of Kanika).
