Trikona Group (USA), which is in to real estate and infrastructure, has floated a hospitality company and named HH Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur as the chairman. He will provide strategic guidance to Apodis Hospitality as it develops properties across India.

Manda’s Raja Vishwanath Pratap Singh passes away. - 28 Nov. 2008.
Raja Vishwanath Pratap Singh of Manda breathed his last on 27 Nov. 2008. He was suffering from cancer since long. Born on 25 June 1931, he became the 8th Prime Minister of India on December 2, 1989. He is survived by his wife Rani Sita Devi and 2 sons Rajkumar Ajeya Singh and Rajkumar Abhay Singh.

Princess Siddhi Kumari (2nd daughter of late Maharaja Narendra Singh of Bikaner) got elected to the legislative assembly (state parliament) of Rajasthan (Western part of India). The president of India Mrs. Pratibha Patil unveiled a statue of late Maharaj Chatrapati Shahu of Kolhapur in the Indian parliament. Maharaj Chatrapati Shahu (1894-1922) was the first to introduce reservation in state jobs for backward classes in 1902.

Baroda Maharaja clashes with lawyers over statue. - 15 Jul 2007 A statue of Maharani Chimnabai was installed in 1897 outside Nyayamandir, which houses the district court now. A few years ago, the government granted permission to the royal family to shift this statue to their private collection as the statue was being neglected and not maintained. However, when the Maharaja reached the Nyayamandir to remove the statue, a group of lawyers protested the plan saying “they were emotionally attached to the statue”. It was restored and was unveiled at Fatehsingh museum to mark the birth centenary celebrations of the former Maharaja. The statue is made of white Italian marble and was sculpted by V. P. Jamnagar royals’ property dispute settled by court. - 10 Aug. 2008 Bhavansinh Vala, nephew of Jam Ranjisinh, had been fighting a legal battle to save his family’s property interest worth millions. His cousins and sisters-in-law (from his mother’s side) – Virmal Kumari and Ramnik Kumari had also claimed a share in the property citing a will of Bhavansinh’s elder brother who had reportedly transferred the property to their names. The original heir died childless in 2000 without any will and so the second brother Chandrasinh become the direct heir. But he too died childless in 2002. So Bhavansinh become the direct inheritor. The civil court had refused to accept the will as legal and the two sisters appealed in the High Court of Gujarat. Fire broke out at Ajit Niwas palace which gutted historic literature, record of Dhranggadhra state and some antique furniture.
