Born: 07 December 1931. Educated at Sandur High School, St. Josephs College (Bangalore, India) and Cambridge university (UK), he has a Master's degree in Economics.
Politics: President of Sandur Town Panchayat and Co-operative Society 1958, was elected to the state parliament of Karnataka from 1959 to 1977 & 1990 to 2004, minister for finance in the state government from 1972 to 1977, minister for rural development & panchayats from 1990 to 2003, got elected to Lok Sabha (lower house of India parliament) in 1986.
