Educated at Rajkumar College (Rajkot,
India), Cambridge University, & Delhi
University. (He is the President of Old Boys' Association of Rajkumar College).
Politics: Got elected to legislative assembly (state parliament of Gujarat, Western part of India) from 1962 to 1971 thereafter got elected as a member of Lok Sabha (lower house of Indian parliament) from 1980 to1989. He has held positions of minister for ecology and environment in the 1980s.
Became the Maharana on 23 May 2007 on the death of his father Maharana Pratapsinh who passed away just a few days after his 101st. birthday (birth date: 17 April 1907).
Profession: Director of Shree Amarsinh Mills Ltd. & Wankaner Co-operative Agricultural Bank Ltd. He is also convener of Indian Heritage Hotels Association (Gujarat) & President of Gujarat Hotels Association.
Sports: Associated with Gujarat Kayaking and Canoeing Association, Indian Land Sailing Association & Founder Member of Indigenous Horse Society of India.
Married 20 April 1955 (divorced) Princess Pratap Kumari (daughter of Maharaja Tej Singh of Alwar).
Married (2nd. time) in 1982 Maharani Vibha Kumari (Vibha Singh).
